Understanding CA backends
CA backends represent Sectigo and third-party certificate authorities (CAs) that are connected to SCM for certificate issuance or management. The following types of CA backends are displayed in SCM:
-
Sectigo Public CA — The Sectigo Public CA is used to issue publicly-trusted certificates. This CA is managed by Sectigo and is not configurable in SCM.
-
Sectigo Private CA — The Sectigo Private CA is used to issue private certificates. This CA is managed by Sectigo and is not configurable in SCM.
The Sectigo Private CA is only displayed if configured for your account. For more information about private CAs, contact your Sectigo account manager. -
Third-party CA Backends — Third-party CA backends represent the connection of external CAs to SCM. These CAs are added and managed through SCM and require the configuration of a CA connector.
For more information on CA connectors, see Understanding CA connectors.
