Configuring SMART File Scan settings

Set up SMART File Scan

The initial setup can be completed using the Setup Wizard when adding a new site or configuring an existing one. Any subsequent changes can be manages using the Site Settings page.
  1. Navigate to your website’s comprehensive site view.

  2. Click the Setup Wizard tab.

  3. Enter the server access details by following the instructions in Managing server access.

  4. Click Save and Continue.

Update server access details in Site Settings using the guidelines provided in Managing server access.

Customize scanning preferences

  1. Navigate to your website’s comprehensive site view.

  2. Click the Site Settings tab.

  3. Click Scanning Preferences.

  4. Click SMART File Scan.

  5. Update the fields using the information provided in the following table.

    Field Description

    Scan Frequency

    Set the database scan frequency.

    The available options are:

    • Daily (Recommended)

    • Weekly

    • Monthly

    • Quarterly

    • Never

    The available options for scan frequency may vary based on your subscription plan.

    Automatically remove malware?

    Select whether malware is removed automatically during scans or handled manually.

    The available options are:

    • Yes — Automatically remove malware during scans.

    • No, just warn me — Notify about detected malware without removing it.

      The list of detected malicious files can be reviewed and cleaned manually from the SMART File Scan page.

    Exclude files and/or folders

    Specify any files or folders to exclude from scans.

    Exclude files by extension

    List file extensions to exclude from scans (for example, .log, .txt, .mp4).

    Exclude files by size

    Set the maximum file size to exclude.

    The possible options are:

    • No Limit

    • Exclude files larger than 5 MB.

    • Exclude files larger than 10 MB.

    • Exclude files larger than 25 MB.

    • Exclude files larger than 50 MB.

  6. Click Save Changes to apply your settings.
