Configuring SMART Database Scan settings

Set up SMART Database Scan

The initial setup can be completed using the Setup Wizard when adding a new site or configuring an existing one. Any subsequent changes can be managed using the Site Settings page.
  1. Navigate to your website’s comprehensive site view.

  2. On the tab bar, click Setup Wizard.

  3. Enter the server access details by following the instructions in Managing server access.

  4. Click Save and Continue.

  5. Under Database Settings, click the SMART Database Scan tab.

  6. Fill out the fields using the information provided in the following table.

    Field Description

    Platform

    The database platform.

    The available options are:

    • WordPress — Automatically detects database credentials.

    • Joomla — Automatically detects database credentials.

    • Other — Manually supply database credentials.

    Web URL

    The URL of the website (for example, https://www.domain.com).

    Host

    The domain name or IP address of the server.

    For example, mydomain.com or 192.168.1.1.

    Port Number

    The port used to connect to the database.

    For MySQL, the default port is 3306.

    Username

    The username required to access the database.

    Password

    The password required to access the database.

    Database Name

    The name of the database to be scanned.

  7. Click Save and Continue.

If there are any issues with the configuration, the status indicator will turn red. Review the entered information and correct any errors.

Edit server access details

Update server access details in Site Settings using the guidelines provided in Managing server access.

Edit database settings

  1. Navigate to your website’s comprehensive site view.

  2. On the tab bar, click Site Settings.

  3. Click Database Settings.

  4. Click the SMART Database Scan tab.

  5. Update the database settings information as needed.

  6. Click Save Changes to apply your changes.

  2. On the tab bar, click Security Report.

  3. Click Security Scans.

  4. Under SMART Database Scan, click View Details to open the SMART Database Scan page.

  5. From the Change Settings menu, click Edit Site Settings.

    This will take you to the Site Settings page for SMART Database Scan.

  6. Update the database settings information as needed.

  7. Click Save Changes to apply your changes.

Customize scanning preferences

  1. Navigate to your website’s comprehensive site view.

  2. On the tab bar, click Site Settings.

  3. Click Scanning Preferences.

  4. Click SMART Database Scan.

  5. Update the fields using the information provided in the following table.

    Field Description

    Scan Frequency

    Select how often to scan the database.

    The available options are:

    • On Demand (once per day maximum) — Run scans manually, up to once per day.

    • Automated Daily Scans — If your service is eligible, enable automatic daily scans of the database.

    Automatically remove spam code?

    Enable to automatically remove any detected spam code during scans.

    Automatically remove spam links?

    Enable to automatically remove any detected spam links during scans.

    Automatically remove malware?

    Enable to automatically remove any detected malware during scans.

    How to handle edit conflicts?

    Select how to handle records that are being edited during scans.

  6. Click Save Changes to apply your updated scanning preferences.
