The Login Process tab provides an overview of how the SiteLock WordPress plugin enhances the security of your website’s login procedures. It outlines the steps taken to protect against unauthorized access, brute-force attacks and other login-related threats.

How to install the SiteLock WordPress plugin

To ensure your login process is secure, you need to have the SiteLock WordPress plugin installed and activated on your website.

Follow these steps to install the plugin:

  1. Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard.

  2. Navigate to Plugins  Add Plugin.

  3. In the search bar, type SiteLock Security, and press Enter.

  4. Locate the SiteLock Security plugin in the search results and click Install Now.

  5. When the installation is complete, click Activate to activate the plugin on your site.

To install the SiteLock WordPress plugin manually, download the plugin .zip file from the SiteLock website and upload it using the Upload Plugin option in the WordPress admin dashboard. For detailed instructions, see How to Install a WordPress Plugin.

How to activate your SiteLock WordPress plugin

To use the SiteLock WordPress plugin, you need to create a SiteLock account. Follow these steps:

  1. Open the SiteLock website.

  2. Click Get started for free

  3. Fill in the required information, including your domain, email address, name, and country of residence.

  4. Accept the terms and conditions.

  5. Click Activate Now.

Once you activate your plugin, you will receive an email with further instructions to complete the setup process.

How the Login Process works

When a user attempts to log in to your WordPress site, the SiteLock plugin implements several security measures to ensure the integrity of the login process:

  1. Login Lockout — The plugin monitors failed login attempts and temporarily locks out users after a specified number of unsuccessful tries, mitigating brute-force attacks.

  2. Force Logouts — Administrators can enforce logouts for inactive sessions, reducing the risk of unauthorized access from unattended devices.

  3. Password Strength Enforcement — The plugin can enforce strong password policies, requiring users to create complex passwords that are difficult to guess.

  4. Login Activity Log — All login attempts are logged, allowing administrators to review and monitor login activity for suspicious behavior.

You must have a valid SiteLock license to use the plugin’s security features. If you do not have a license, you can purchase one from the SiteLock website.
