Getting started

This guide is intended to introduce you to the process of installing and activating the SiteLock WordPress plugin on your website.

Install the SiteLock WordPress plugin

  1. Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard.

  2. Navigate to Plugins  Add Plugin.

  3. In the search bar, type SiteLock Security.

  4. Locate the SiteLock Security plugin in the search results and click Install Now.

  5. When the installation is complete, click Activate to activate the plugin on your site.

    A SiteLock menu will be added to your WordPress admin dashboard, which you can use to access the plugin’s features and settings.

To install the SiteLock WordPress plugin manually, download the plugin .zip file from the SiteLock website and upload it using the Upload Plugin option in the WordPress admin dashboard. For detailed instructions, see Uploading plugins via WordPress Admin.

Activate your SiteLock WordPress plugin

If you want to use the additional security features of the SiteLock WordPress plugin, you need connect your SiteLock account to the plugin and activate your license key.

  1. In your WordPress admin dashboard, click SiteLock in the left-hand menu to open the plugin dashboard.

  2. If you don’t have a SiteLock account, create a new account:

    1. Click Activate Free Account.

      This will open a new page on the SiteLock website where you can create a new account.

    2. Under Secure your WordPress site in one quick step, enter the following information:

      • Domain — The domain of the WordPress site where you installed the plugin

      • Email — The email address associated with your SiteLock account

      • Name — Your name

      • Country of Residence — Your country of residence

    3. Accept the terms and conditions.

    4. Click Activate Now.

      Once activated, you will receive an email with further instructions to complete the setup process for your SiteLock account and connect it to the WordPress plugin.

  3. Click Get your license key now.

  4. In the page that opens, log in using your SiteLock account credentials.

    You will be redirected to a page with your SiteLock license key.

  5. Under License Key, copy the license key provided.

  6. In your WordPress admin dashboard, navigate to SiteLock > Site Settings.

  7. Under License Key, paste the license key you copied from the SiteLock website.

  8. Click Save Changes to complete the activation process.

    After activation, you can access the plugin’s advanced features.
