Understanding organizations

In addition to standard Domain Validation (DV) certificates, Sectigo offers Organization Validation (OV) certificates. OV certificates go beyond the basic authentication of DV certificates by requiring additional validation steps to verify your organization’s identity. This extra layer of validation enhances trust and security, making OV certificates particularly valuable in establishing a trusted online presence.

Organization validation requires a Sectigo validation specialist to review the organization details provided in SCM Pro. If the organization details cannot be verified, the organization’s representative (Validator) will be contacted for additional information.

Details

Organizations details can be managed on the Manage Organization Validation page through the Details tab.

The following table describes the fields and controls of the Details panel.

Element	Description
Organization Name	The name of the organization.
Organization Identifier	Stands for the legal person identification based on identity type references allowed by the ETSI 319 412-1 standards and requirements.
Address 1, 2, 3	The street address of the organization entity.
City	The city in which the organization resides.
State	The state or province in which the organization resides.
Postal Code	The organization’s postal code.
Country	The country in which the organization resides.

Edit details	Opens the Edit Organization page where you can update the organization’s details.

Element

Description

Organization Name

The name of the organization.

Organization Identifier

Stands for the legal person identification based on identity type references allowed by the ETSI 319 412-1 standards and requirements.

Address 1, 2, 3

The street address of the organization entity.

City

The city in which the organization resides.

State

The state or province in which the organization resides.

Postal Code

The organization’s postal code.

Country

The country in which the organization resides.

Opens the Edit Organization page where you can update the organization’s details.

The following table describes the fields and controls of the Validation panel.

Element	Description
ID	The unique identifier that corresponds with the current, or most recent, validation request for the organization.
Validator	The administrator who will be contacted should additional information be required during the validation process. This field is automatically populated with the name of the administrator who initiated the validation request.
Validation Status	The current validation status of the organization. The possible values are: Not Validated — The organization has not been validated. Pending — The organization is in the process of being validated. Expired — The organization’s validation has expired. Failed — The organization could not be validated. Validated — The organization has been successfully validated.
Submitted	The date that the validation request was submitted.
Expires	The date that the organization’s validation will expire.

Synchronize (icon)	Refreshes the validation status to match the latest data from Sectigo.
Reset validation (icon)	Removes the validation status from the selected organization.
